Where to begin... obviously Costa Rica has some beautiful beaches, and many are within a 15 minute drive from Finca Solla Sollew. If you are an ace surfer, Dominical is the way to go. The surf on the other beaches in the area are for the rest to enjoy. There are riptides to be aware of, so please check into which beaches are best for swimming.

Smart Tips for Visiting Costa Rica

Some great day trips might include zip lining or rainforest walking tours at Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge. My 75 year old parents loved it, and so did the kids. The guides are great and point out all kinds of things you'd never see on your own walking through the jungle.

White water rafting is, surprisingly, one of the main tourist activities in Costa Rica. You can find all categories depending on the time of year.

Playa Ventanas is a beautiful beach where you can spend the day swimming and picnicking under the palms. You can rent ocean kayaks and boogie boards. The beach is named Ventanas (Windows) due to some interesting caves that can be explored during low tide.

Playa Hermosa, a beautiful long deserted beach is perfect for horse back riding, long walks. and surfing, but swimming is not recommended.

Nauyaca Waterfall tour is not to be missed. You can get there from here via horse back, or you can go there and do the shorter trip offered by Nauyaca.

If horses aren't your thing, you can take ATV (quadracycle) tours out of Uvita to the various waterfalls.

If you would like to fish, there are many around who offer sports fishing. There are whale watching and dolphin tours. Trips through the mangroves or out to Caño Island, or snorkeling and diving.

Any of these fun filled days are going to make you hungry! You can't beat starting your day at La Parcela, a restaurant out on a point looking down the southern coast, and up over a little bay of fishing boats, nestled among some of the most amazing old trees dripping with vines and bromeliads. And the food ain't bad either!

There are quite a few good "sodas" around for typical Tico cuisine. Fish, rice and beans, good stuff. Or the gems of Ojochal: Exotica and Citrus. 5 star food and ambience without the price.

The "Movies in the Jungle" on Friday nights is one of the truly unique and enjoyable ways to spend the evening here. Pot luck and sunset at 5:00. Obscure, wonderful, strange and funny short films at 6:00, a break for popcorn, and then the feature flick. Toby's choice.

The local farmers market is in Uvita on Saturday mornings. They have wonderful organic produce, crafts, and jewelry. Go hungry and pick or eat at Lupe's restaurant. Great for meeting folks from the community and get caught up on the latest goings on, such as where to contribute the much needed donations for the stray, spay & neuter clinic. Or when the auditions will be held for this years Christmas show, or Dominical's Little Theater.

As you can see, there's plenty to do. But not doing anything is sometimes just as good. We can arrange massages and meals right here on the property. We have toucans and aracaris, monkeys and sloths, parrots and iguanas: lots of nature watching right here. Read a book, nap, play Boggle, talk, enjoy the quiet.

Whether you're here for a well deserved rest, or a fun filled vacation, we hope we can be a part of it here at Finca Solla Sollew.
